Claim

Training transfer depends not only on the training event but also on trainee characteristics, training design and the work environment. Supportive work environments are positively related to transfer.

Evidence

A meta-analysis of 89 studies found meaningful relationships between transfer and factors including motivation, ability and a supportive work environment, confirming that completion of training is not equivalent to application on the job.
